Pierre Verhelst passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 10, 2026, at the age of 70. He was a devoted husband to Kathy McKee and father to Tyler, Marissa and Michelle. He retired as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and helped found the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. He was known for restoring a Bell 47 D1 helicopter and for research that added to Canadian bush flying history.
