Richard Stanley Vanier, 84, died peacefully on December 29, 2025, in Kelowna, British Columbia. He was born in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, and moved to Powell River in 1970 for work at the papermill. He completed an apprenticeship as a steamfitter and gasfitter and later worked as an instructor at the Pacific Vocational Institute (now BCIT) and for the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters. After time with the Operating Engineers, he started his own consulting company and in 2025 moved to Kelowna to be close to family.
