The Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) says local fundraisers are essential to meeting rising community needs. LAPS reports its 2025 Pets on Pints campaign, run with Camp Beer Co., drew entries from across the Lower Mainland and raised funds for operations. The society is also hosting a sold-out Drag Bingo on Jan. 29 as its first in-person fundraiser of the year. Executive director Sarah Jones described these campaigns as ways the community supports donor-funded programs, especially care for cats.
Key details:
- The 2025 Pets on Pints campaign received 276 entries and raised $23,854 for LAPS.
- Winners included Hexie (cat), Linken Bark and Moose (dogs), Gunner (mini pony), and Rumi (rat).
- A sold-out Drag Bingo will be held Jan. 29 at Locality Brewing, hosted by Drag King Justin Abit, with proceeds directed to daily operations and cat programs.
- In 2025 LAPS supported 92 families, assisted 56 dogs and 34 cats, and covered more than $50,000 in costs.
- LAPS said its cat programs are fully donor-funded and that fundraising remains important while a new agreement has the Township overseeing animal control.
Summary:
The fundraisers have provided direct financial support for LAPS’s donor-funded services and helped the organization assist many animals and families in 2025. The upcoming sold-out Drag Bingo on Jan. 29 will add funds focused on cat care, and LAPS plans to bring the Pets on Pints campaign back this year.
