A young harbour seal was rescued in West Vancouver after being found with a gillnet embedded around her neck. Rescuers named the pup Annette after she was spotted by a member of the public. Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Society veterinarian Dr. Martin Haulena said the net had likely been cutting into her neck for weeks or months and that she had been unable to feed, leaving her very thin. Annette has been treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, disinfectants and pain relief, and staff report she is improving and eating fish on her own.

- Annette is thought to have been born last summer and was rescued after being found entangled in a gillnet in West Vancouver.
