Two long-serving members of BX-Swan Lake Fire Rescue are retiring after more than six decades of combined service to the Vernon area. Deputy Chief Bas Kuyper and firefighter Warren Otway were presented with recognition certificates from the province and certificates of appreciation from the MLA's office. Vernon-Lumby MLA Harwinder Sandhu delivered the honours and spoke about their frontline work during challenging wildfire seasons as well as their steady leadership and mentoring. Fire Chief Bill Wacey and his team organized the recognition event.
