South Okanagan offers Family Day events across communities

Family Day events are scheduled across several South Okanagan communities, with organized activities at community centres, arenas and the South Okanagan Events Centre. Penticton, Summerland, Oliver and Osoyoos each have planned programming that includes swimming, skating, arts and games. Some city and regional offices and waste facilities are closed for the holiday. Recreation centres in the Regional District of Okanagan‑Similkameen will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Planned activities:
- Penticton community centre will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the pool’s diving boards and waterslide will be available and gymnasium activities include a free Family Day Games Zone; arts and crafts stations, a photo booth and a new free guided meditation program are also listed.
- The South Okanagan Events Centre will host a Penticton Vees game on Monday at 2 p.m.; a free post‑game public Skate with the Vees is scheduled once the game concludes, with re‑entry allowed after the final buzzer and no skate or helmet rentals provided; children 12 and under must be accompanied and sign liability waivers.
- Summerland reported free admission for Family Day weekend provided by the Kinsmen Club, with a free pool session on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and a free skate on Sunday from 5:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Oliver’s Family Day Fun and Games is listed for Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Community Hall with arts, crafts, games, Legos and parkour equipment; family skating follows from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the event will also serve as an open house on the Lion’s Park Capital Development project.
- Osoyoos is hosting a free Family Day Skate at the Sun Bowl Arena on Feb. 16 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.; a skate library in the arena lobby is available for borrowing skates in sizes for children through adults, and skaters are asked to bring helmets.
