The City of Nanaimo has launched "Our Coastal City," a project to develop a Sea Level Rise Management Plan. The city opened a coastal values survey running Feb. 17 to March 13 to gather resident input. The plan will build on a 2018 study that identified vulnerable shoreline areas and projected about 0.88 metres of local sea level rise by 2100. City staff said they are working with Snuneymuxw First Nation and the Regional District of Nanaimo on the project.
