Nelson Police Department will host a mock 'Jail and Bail' fundraiser on Thursday in which local leaders, business owners and community champions are temporarily 'arrested' and held in a mock jail cell. Participants remain until they or their supporters raise an assigned bail amount. Funds from the event will go to support the Special Olympics Polar Plunge, scheduled for 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 at Lakeside Park. The department has run similar events in previous years to support B.C. Special Olympics.

- Volunteers will be "arrested" and locked in a mock jail cell until their assigned bail is raised.
- Those held call on friends, family and colleagues to donate on their behalf.
