Community to be consulted on Gortgonis leisure and health hub plans

The Mid Ulster District Council has said the community will be consulted on plans for the new Gortgonis Leisure and Community Health Hub in Coalisland. At the January 15 Development Committee meeting councillors were told that designs are being finalised and that engagement with site users is planned for January. Concept designs published in September 2025 set out a building to house a gym, community hall, changing facilities and meeting rooms, alongside a six‑lane shale track, a new 3G pitch and a play park. Council officers indicated that engagement would lead to a design freeze and further committee consideration.
