Basingstoke Neighbourcare has started a partnership with Basingstoke Citizens Advice to provide free, confidential advice in familiar community settings. Citizens Advice advisers will visit two local venues to make guidance more accessible to residents. The arrangement is set within existing social activities at each venue to offer advice alongside meals and community support. Sessions are scheduled on regular days of the month and run through late spring.
Key details:
- Citizens Advice advisers will attend Hill Rise Hall Café in Brighton Hill on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month from 10am to 12pm; the next session is on 11 February and visits continue until 27 May.
- A private room will be available at Hill Rise Hall Café to allow confidential one-to-one support during advice sessions.
- Advisers will be at the Community Hub at Popley Fields every first and third Thursday of the month from 10am to 2pm, with sessions running until 4 June.
- The Hill Rise Hall Café runs Wednesday mornings with low-cost refreshments, and the Community Hub offers a hot two-course meal, volunteer-led IT support, affordable toenail cutting (booking required) and a weekly pay-as-you-go exercise class.
- Basingstoke Citizens Advice is an independent local charity providing guidance on benefits, housing, work, debt and money, consumer issues, family matters, law and courts, immigration and health.
