Sovereign Hill Partnership (SHP), a joint effort by Sovereign Network Group and housebuilder Hill, has confirmed the first priority area for regeneration in Buckskin and South Ham. Pinkerton Road, on the side near Park View Primary School, is named as the initial area for potential redevelopment. Two further small pilot areas have been identified for possible refurbishment. SHP says it will work with residents through 2026 and aims to submit a masterplan proposal to the borough council in 2027.
Key details:
- Pinkerton Road, specifically the side near Park View Primary School where SNG owns a large proportion of homes, has been identified as the initial priority area for potential redevelopment.
- Two small pilot refurbishment areas were named: Cotswold Close (off Chiltern Way) and Winchester Road near the former Camrose stadium.
- Households in the initial priority areas were contacted ahead of public events planned for Tuesday, February 3 (4pm–7pm) and Saturday, February 14 (1pm–4pm) at the Ridgeway Community Centre.
- Since 2023, SHP reports engaging with more than 1,400 residents at 33 events, receiving over 1,800 survey responses, and holding more than 1,200 door-knocking conversations.
- Around one third of homes in Buckskin and South Ham (approximately 1,500) have been identified as areas for limited change, where no occupied homes are planned for redevelopment.
Summary:
SHP will continue a co-design process with residents, including establishing a new resident-led group with Newman Francis and offering personalised information and support as proposals develop. Pilot refurbishment work has been identified for a small number of SNG-owned homes and could include kitchen and bathroom replacements, insulation upgrades, green-space improvements, or retrofit measures such as solar panels; this work is at an early stage. The masterplan process will continue through 2026 with the aim of submitting a proposal to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in 2027.
