Barbora Patková transformed a previously neglected yard near South Bermondsey station into Innversions Alchemy, a wellness site with saunas, cold plunge baths and a two-storey workshop space. The sauna and cold plunge operation launched in November last year, and the workshop area has been open since 2024. The site hosts activities such as yoga, breathwork, sound baths, meditation and massage alongside regular sauna sessions. Barbora also runs nearby music studios and is combining music and wellness in the site’s future plans.
Key details:
- Location and founder: Innversions Alchemy is at Ilderton Wharf in South Bermondsey and was developed by Barbora Patková.
- Facilities: The site includes three large wooden, wood-fired saunas and three cold plunge baths; two baths are kept between 5–10°C and the coldest at about 1°C.
- Session format: A 90-minute session grants access to all three saunas, hot tea, showers and changing rooms; saunas vary in size and temperature and one is designated as a quiet sauna.
- Pricing and concessions: 90-minute off-peak sessions cost £9.50 and peak sessions cost £15; 60-minute off-peak sessions are £8 with £5 concession rates for students, Blue Light card holders, people with disabilities, those over 66, and people on low incomes.
- Workshop and programmes: The two-storey workshop and wellness lounge host massage, yoga, breathwork, sound healing and meditation, and studio space is available for hire.
Summary:
The site offers an accessible, community-centred approach to contrast therapy in a London setting and presents a mix of regular sauna sessions and booked wellness activities. Barbora says she plans to expand programming with half-day music and wellness retreats, outdoor film nights and closer links between her music studios and the sauna site as she seeks funding for an accredited music-and-wellness course in south-east London.
