The Heaton Group is investing £3m to transform part of the Grade II listed Eckersley Mill at Cotton Works in Wigan into a new venue called Factory Floor. The project will convert Mill One, a building dating to 1884 that once formed part of a large cotton-mill complex, into a day-to-night social and late-night entertainment destination. Parts of the mill had fallen into disrepair in recent years, and the redevelopment will preserve industrial features such as exposed brickwork and original iron beams. The venue is intended to sit alongside existing hospitality and workspace tenants at the Cotton Works.
Key details:
- The Heaton Group plans a £3m investment to reopen part of Mill One as Factory Floor.
- The venue is planned to accommodate around 350 guests.
- Factory Floor will offer seven interactive games including darts, shuffleboard, pool, karaoke, skee ball, basketball and beer pong, plus retro arcade machines.
- Food will be provided by the team behind Super Fry Guys with a new concept called Feed, and the space is designed to evolve into a food hall-style area with independent traders and a stage.
- The Cotton Works already hosts The Three Mills pub, the Feast at The Mills outdoor market, and Weave Co-Working, contributing to the site's revival.
Summary:
The project repurposes a historic industrial building into a mixed entertainment, food and nightlife venue while retaining key architectural features and reinforcing the Cotton Works as a local destination. It will operate as a flexible daytime social space that shifts into a late-night experience, and it joins other hospitality and workspace operators on site. Undetermined at this time.
