Abdul Hye, a Cambridgeshire community campaigner, was one of 26 people honoured with the British Citizen Award at the Palace of Westminster. On 22 January he received the BCA Medal of Honour for Services to Volunteering & Charitable Giving. Over roughly three decades he has led projects focused on education, healthcare and poverty alleviation. His work spans local, national and international initiatives and partnerships.

- Abdul received the BCA Medal of Honour for Services to Volunteering & Charitable Giving at a presentation on 22 January at the Palace of Westminster.
- The ceremony was hosted by Konnie Huq and attended by BCA patrons and supporters, and the award was presented to Abdul by James McGuire of One Stop.

- In 2022 he set up the AH Foundation, which has provided more than 12,000 hot meals, raised over £60,000 and donated £12,000 in emergency support following the Turkey/Syria earthquake, with funds reported as channelled directly to beneficiaries.
- Since 2010 he has been active in the Bangladesh Welfare and Cultural Association Cambridge and serves as a trustee of the Dusthopur Development Project in his former hometown in Bangladesh.
