The first broadcast is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2026, a Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks game at 7:30 p.m. PT. The streams use Apple’s Immersive format and custom Blackmagic Ursa Cine Immersive rigs to capture multiple courtside perspectives. Spectrum says the feeds will be available at up to 150 Mbps with a three-day replay window.
Key details:
- The partnership between Apple and Charter/Spectrum was announced on Oct. 10, 2025, and Spectrum SportsNet will power the live immersive streams through a new SportsNet app.
- The debut live stream is the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks game on Jan. 9, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. PT.
- Each game will be captured with Blackmagic Ursa Cine Immersive rigs, filmed in Apple’s Immersive format, and offered from seven different viewing perspectives.
- Streams are reported to be delivered at up to 150 Mbps and will include on-demand replays available for three days after each live broadcast.
- Watching via the Spectrum app requires a Spectrum broadband or Spectrum SportsNet subscription; the NBA app will distribute replays and highlights internationally (supported countries include the US, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates).
- The 2025–26 NBA regular season runs through April 12, 2026, with the playoffs to follow.
Summary:
These broadcasts mark the first regular live use of Apple’s immersive format by a major U.S. sports league and may help clarify uses for the Vision Pro headset. Additional Lakers streams and global on-demand replays are planned through the 2025–26 NBA season. Whether the broadcasts will materially affect headset sales or wider adoption is undetermined at this time.
