The Pottsville Rotary Club met recently and honored the February students of the month from three area high schools. The students represent Pottsville Area, Minersville Area and Nativity BVM high schools. Rotarians highlighted the students' leadership, scholarship and service to their schools and community. Each student was introduced with activities and post-graduation plans.
Recognized students:
- Emily Steidle of Pottsville: active in soccer, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, student council, Aevidum and band; tutors through NHS and plans to major in biology and pursue a career in sleep medicine.
- Grady Leskin of Brockton: participates in basketball and golf, serves as a student school board member, and is active in multiple clubs and volunteer events; plans to attend Penn State to study civil engineering.
- Lea K. Oshman of Branch Township: enrolled in an Emerging Health Professionals dual enrollment program, member of SkillsUSA and HOSA, and active in soccer and basketball; volunteers locally and plans to study nursing at Bloomsburg University.
- Ty Atkinson of Minersville: involved in student council, Aevidum, school TV studio and sports; volunteers as a firefighter with local companies and plans to attend the Fire Academy for a career in emergency management.
- Colt Mason of Minersville: participates in football and track and is active in several clubs; volunteers with organizations including Knights of Columbus, United Way and Special Olympics, and plans to attend Lebanon Valley College to play football and pursue coaching.
- Hailey Mills of Pottsville: active in drama, cheerleading, chorus and multiple school clubs; volunteers with parish youth programs and school productions and plans to major in theater with a minor in marketing and social media management.
