The Beaufort Lions Club will hold its annual Sweetheart Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Sea Island Presbyterian Church on Lady's Island. The menu includes pancakes, waffles, sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese grits, and Jim Palmer's sausage gravy and biscuits, with juice and coffee. Tickets are available at the door or online for $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
Event and programs:
- Proceeds from the breakfast support the Beaufort Lions' vision and diabetes programs.
- During the current school year, the Lions' vision screening team conducted vision and hearing screenings for more than 6,000 school-aged children in public and private schools and day cares.
- In collaboration with seven school nurses north of the Broad River, the club provided protein-rich snacks during the school day to about 30 students living with diabetes and sponsored a second-grade student to attend a diabetes camp.
- In 2025, the Lions partnered with local eye doctors and the Good Neighbor Clinic to provide more than 30 pairs of prescription eyeglasses to residents north of the Broad River.
- The club has helped organize and support local events such as Veterans Day, the Water Festival, and Christmas parades, and participates in commemorations at Waterfront Park and the Beaufort National Cemetery.
- Members also donated hygiene packets and activity books to a local shelter during Mental Health and Well-Being Awareness Week, collected over 900 pounds of food for area pantries, play bingo with seniors, and collect can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
