HIV Alliance Executive Director Renee Yandel said the center is meant to be a purpose-built, welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community. The new location brings together partner groups and service providers under one roof.
Key details:
- The HIV Alliance purchased the building that now houses The Lavender Network at 1590 Willamette St. near downtown Eugene.
- The center houses partner organizations including Transponder, Queer Eugene, Eugene Pride and Authentic Movement Project.
- Onsite services include the Queer Eugene clothing closet and community dance classes run by Authentic Movement Project.
- New organizations offering services at the center include Transition Health and Open Adoption and Family Services.
- The Lavender Network is open for drop-ins Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Summary:
Organizers said bringing multiple resources into one location is intended to make accessing support more convenient for community members. The center is now operating with weekday drop-in hours, and its early use will determine how the shared space serves local needs.
