Melanie Okamoto of the Department of Parks and Recreation said the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort, the usual venue, is under renovation. More than 300 kupuna signed up for a day of dancing, lunch, and prize giveaways. Organizers said the resort setting added hotel-style hospitality and decorations, and a live DJ volunteered his services.
