She was born March 21, 1945, in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, and was the first child and only daughter of Anthony and Dorothy Pasella. She attended Pennsylvania State for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and served at Naval Air Station Alameda in California. After military service she worked for naval contractors in communications and as a program analyst and later retired.
