H-E-B is staging its second annual True Texas Tunes concert series at two Austin stores, South Congress and Lake Austin, running from February through October. The free performances are held in partnership with Housing Opportunities for Musicians (HOME). The Lake Austin location began the series on Feb. 5 and will run a monthly concert program and a weekly summer series from June through August. H-E-B says the series is intended to showcase local talent and support HOME's work on housing stability for aging musicians.
Event details:
- The series runs February through October at H-E-B's South Congress and Lake Austin stores and will present 30 free concerts.
- Lake Austin hosted the kickoff concert on Feb. 5 (Red Young and Friends) and will hold free concerts at 5 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month beginning in March.
- The Lake Austin weekly summer series runs June through August and includes performances such as Beat Divas (June 3), Christine Albert (June 24), Guy Forsyth (July 15), and Betty Soo (Aug. 26), among others.
- South Congress will host concerts every third Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning Feb. 21 with the George Carver Trio; other scheduled acts include Carolyn Wonderland & Shelley King (March 21) and Shawn Pander (April 18).
- H-E-B presents the series in collaboration with HOME, and organizers say proceeds and visibility support HOME's mission to provide housing stability and support services for Austin's aging musicians.
Summary:
The series has already begun with a Feb. 5 concert at the Lake Austin H-E-B and will continue through October with monthly and summer weekly performances. Upcoming scheduled events include the South Congress kickoff on Feb. 21 and the Lake Austin monthly program resuming in March, with a full lineup of local artists across both locations.
