The annual Blessing of the Fleet returns to Darien's waterfront Friday through Sunday, April 17–19. Hosted by the Darien‑McIntosh County Chamber of Commerce, the three‑day festival celebrates the area's shrimping heritage and community spirit. Planned activities include live music, a 5K race, a classic car show, family fishing, a boat parade and fireworks. Admission varies by day and pets are not allowed inside the fenced area except for service animals.
Schedule highlights:
- Friday: Gates open at 4 p.m.; main stage performances at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.; gates close at 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 5K registration at 6:30 a.m. with the race at 7:30 a.m.; pancake breakfast 8–10 a.m.; parade at 10 a.m.; classic car show 11 a.m.–3 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
