Library news: Flowers, clubs and dinosaurs at Texas County branches

Landscaping in front of the Houston library has been completed using Missouri native flowers and plants. Signage is being ordered so the community can learn the plant names. The Texas County Library system is sharing spring activities at its four branches, including book and plant sales and plans for Summer Reading. Staff and volunteers were acknowledged for their recent work on the grounds and programs.
Current details:
- Landscaping completed at the Houston branch with Missouri native flowers and plants; signage will be installed to identify plantings.
- Houston branch book sale is scheduled for April 24–25, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., in the storm shelter; a Texas County Book Bag can be filled for $10 or individual books are $1 each; cash or checks only.
- The Summersville branch will hold a plant and book sale on the same dates.
- Summer Reading theme is "DINOSAURS — Unearth a Story," and an adult Summer Reading challenge will be offered for the first time; registration for children and adults begins the week of May 23, and monetary donations are being accepted to assist program costs.
- The new library features a conference room that seats 14+ with a large smart TV and a business center with a computer and printer/copier; both spaces may be reserved.
- E-books and audiobooks are available to Texas County Library patrons through the library website, and library cards are required to download.
